Default setting up BIS on a GSM SIM card

Please Login to Remove!

Hi again BBForums

I just got the BB 8800 and now I have all the question my current carrier can't answer...

1. When i start up with my normal SIM card i get "invalid sim card", then i try my carriers data card (from my vodafon mobile connect pc card) and it says "data connection refused" - what am I missing here? do I need a "speciel" blackberry SIM card something?

2. I want to setup up the Blackberry with BIS - where and how do I do this?

3. Any tips on how I just get this BB to work with BIS ASAP ?

First of all who is your carrier?

1. Since you have an ATT/Cingular 8800 and it is most likely locked (hence the invalid SIM), you need to activate the BB with ATT and have it provisioned.

You also need to have a BB dataplan (hence the data connection refused).

If you are not going to use ATT as your carrier, then you need to unlock the BB and then get it activated and provisioned and get a data plan from your selected carrier.

2. BIS comes with the BB dataplan. You carrier can provide you the link to the website to set it up.

3. Read the users manual that came with the BB.

Are you in Denmark or the US?

I just assumed that it was an ATT 8800. Guess I should not have made that assumption.

You should use a carrier that gives you the best service where you will use the device.

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

And you need to use the same voice carrier as data plan provider, with their SIM card in the BlackBerry. You need to call TeleDenmark.
