Default Charging an 8700

Can you use any USB cable to charge a 8700 from a USB port?

Do you have to have any software installed on the computer to charge the 8700 from the USB port?

Yes. Any mini usb cable will work. You do need the drivers installed. They generally install with Desktop Manager.
