I have a blackberry 8830 that i love. Only thing is that my new company will not give me the settings for the BES server. They said will provide me a blackberry in a few months with cingular wireless. My question is. Once i get my blackberry from my company(which they get from cingular) can i get the settings from the cingular blackberry(the password) and put it on my verizon 8830? To be specific the company is JPmorganChase. Please help. I love my verizon service and the 8830.

why would you go out and get your own blackberry when your company is giving you a blackberry? seems kind of impulsive to me...

i bought it 3 weeks ago....and i just started my new company on monday. Id rather keep my verizon phone if i can put the BES settings in it.

i just found out that my company will give me a phone, that why i would like to know if this is possible...............any help please guys!

Your company clearly has a policy that they're not going to allow personal devices to be added to their BES. (And the company being JP Morgan, I'm not at all surprised.)

You're asking the members of this forum to help you circumvent your company policy.
Not only are you asking the members here to do something incredibly unethical... you're risking your own employment!

Forget about adding your own device to your company BES.
I would not expect that you'll receive any help from the members here.

i would mess with your company, because chances are you probably landed a sweet job. since it's only been 3 weeks (and verizon has a 30 day trial period now), i would take it back. that is just my opinion. cingular/att is pretty decent, but the BEST part of it all...is that YOUR COMPANY IS PAYING FOR IT LOL.

if its illegal or unethical i dont want to do it. I just wanted to see if it was possible thats all.

It would be unethical and illegal, if you are not allowed on their BES, and you hack your way onto it without their knowledge.

The other thing (besides the illegal and unethical aspect which is huge) is that putting your device on BES will subject you to the way they run it. A search of the postings on this forum will lead you to many that counsel against doing this when you are allowed to add it. It leads to much more grief than its worth (based on the posters).

ok guys thanks!! i guess its not legal.... i thought i could just put the password from my company provided BB and put it on my verizon phone BES settings.......i guess ill just return the phone tomorrow. oh well

It's not a matter of copying settings or passwords. It's just a matter of activating the BB. However, as others have said you really shouldn't do so if your company prohibits personal devices on their BES.
