Hi,
The BlackBerry Enterprise Service allows for wireless synchronization of email, contacts, calendar, memos and task items so that changes are reflected at both ends. What it also offers is email reconciliation so that users will not have to manage their messages in both the BlackBerry and on their Outlook Exchange program.
It offers two-way email reconciliation meaning that, ideally, whichever system they manage their account on, the changes will be reflected on the other momentarily. The BlackBerry Enterprise Service service book entries (labled DESKTOP under Options, Advanced Options, Service Books) provide for this function to occur when set up correctly.
What the user can do is go to their MESSAGES icon, click the trackwheel and select Options and then Email Reconciliation. What that's going to show is how their message services are configured. For BES, it should show DESKTOP. There should be another setting present (Wireless Sync) turned on and one more setting labled "DELETE ON". What they can do is set it so that they are either PROMPTED for every message they delete, delete only on HANDHELD or delete on MAILBOX & HANDHELD.
My guess is that it may be set to either PROMPT or HANDHELD and not for both or the BES was not set up correctly for email reconciliation at the time of Activation.
Hope that information was helpful
