Question newbie here...PLEASE HELP!!!

I just got a 7280 Blackberry through SunCom for personal and business use. My problem is that I will be roaming during half of my day and I would like to know how to stop incoming email so I do not incure roaming charges for every kb downloaded. Thank you so much for your help. Have a great day.
