Default swaping phones I860 to 7520

Please Login to Remove!

I done a search found some stuff about upgrading from BB to BB but nothing on this matter so sorry if it all ready been answered... I have a nextel i860 and i just got my blackberry 7520 and want to know if there is any program that lets me take the contacts off my i860 and put them onto my BB? because i got about 200contacts and that would be hell to do 1 by 1. i have data cables for both and have access to both PC and Mac's so either platform would be great.. if its for a mac that would be a huge plus.

Default Sim to BB Conversion

Here are the instructions and programs needed to do a sim to blackberry conversion: Hope this helps everyone!

Instructions for Converting a Nextel Handset Phonebook to Exchange Contacts:

Requirements:
• Microsoft Access
• Microsoft Excel
• Serial or USB Data Cable for your phone
Before you begin
Create a file in “my documents” called “phone lists”

1.) Download iDEN Phonebook Manager and install:

2.) Extract ABExporter.zip file (ABExporter.mdb) to “..\My Documents\Phone Lists as ABExporter.mdb”

3.) Open iDEN Phonebook Manager

4.) Connect data cable to handset

5.) If this is the first time, select ‘Options’ to configure appropriate communication settings (USB)

6.) Select: ‘New/Edit Phonebook’ -> ‘Load from Phone’

7.) Once the application has finished reading the SIM card, select ‘Continue’ and ‘Save to File’; save the *.mdb file to “..\My Documents\Phone Lists as username.mdb”

8.) Close iDEN Phonebook Manager

9.) Open “..\My Documents\ Phone Lists” and open ABExporter.mdb, which will launch Microsoft Access

10.) In Access, select ‘File’ -> ‘Get External Data’ -> ‘Import’ -> “..\My Documents\Phone Lists\username.mdb”

11.) From the ‘Import Objects’ window, confirm that you are on the ‘tables’ tab -> select ‘tblContactList’ and ‘Ok’ (Note: you will need to delete any old tblContactList from the ABExporter database that was left over from the previous conversion)

12.) Select the ‘Queries’ tab (along left-hand side) ; double-click ‘MasterQuery’

13.) Select ‘File’ -> ‘Export’. Change ‘Save as type’ to ‘Excel’ (97-2002) and save file “..\My Documents\Phone Lists\username.xls” -> select ‘Export All’

14.) Close Access Data Base, go to the file you just saved, OPEN it and do another SAVE AS; save it again as Excel 97-2002. You will be asked to replace with previous version, select YES and close out of Excel completely.

15.) Send an email out to the user with the following directions and attach “..\My Documents\Phone Lists\username.xls”

Please save the attached file to your desktop and follow the directions below to move your phone contacts to Outlook.

If you have not done so already, please install the Blackberry Desktop manager that came with your Blackberry (instructions are in the box.)

1. Open Outlook

2. Select ‘File’ -> ‘Import and Export’. Select ‘Import from another program or file’ -> ‘Microsoft Excel’. Select ‘Next’ -> Browse your desktop for the file you just saved (yourname.xls) and select ‘Ok’. Leave the ‘allow duplicates’ checked and select ‘Next’, click on ‘Contacts’ as destination folder. Select ‘Next’ and then select ‘Finish’ to import file.

3. On your desktop, select ‘Start” then select ‘Program’ from your program list, select ‘Blackberry’ and then select ‘Desktop Manager’

4. Plug your Blackberry into the provided USB cable and the cable into an available USB port on the computer. Then select the ‘Options’ and then “Connection Settings”

5. From the drop down menu for ‘Connection’ choose ‘USB’ then select ‘OK’

6. Double click ‘Intellesync’

7. Click the box for ‘Update Handheld’s Date and Time’ and leave everything else as is.

8. Select ‘Synchronize Now’

Okay, hate to bring up an old thread, and really hate that this is my first post (although long-time lurker), but all the searching I've done for the ABExporter file has done me no good.. Anyone know where to get it? Is it something that someone built? Can *someone* point me in the right direction? Much appreciated if so - I'm in a desperate situation, or I wouldn't be humbly begging like this.

Thanks all!

Thanks a ton for the reply. I did download and install the phone mgr app, but it didn't seem to come with the ABExporter MDB file - it seems that's what I'm missing. I've created a test entry in the app and saved it, and then opened the MDB that it creates so I know how the tables are laid out, but I guess I was hoping for some way to take the existing XL file I've got (~2400 entries) and import that into the iDen's MDB. It's my understanding that the ABExporter MDB does just that. I know that if I were a coder, I could write something, but my abilities are limited to little more than a batch file.

Thanks again!!

you can do it the easy way by putting in your i860 msim into the blackberry thengo into the phonebook click into it, then scroll down to where it says sim phonebook, click it, then let it load, click again after it loads up, then click and go to add to phonebook. it will then load them in and save them. then put your bb sim back in and boom your done. that easy. if you dont see the option for sim phone book then you need to update your software. now i know this works on the 7520 and the 7100i. hope this helps. good luck
