Instructions for Converting a Nextel Handset Phonebook to Exchange Contacts:
Requirements:
• Microsoft Access
• Microsoft Excel
• Serial or USB Data Cable for your phone
Before you begin
Create a file in “my documents” called “phone lists”
1.) Download iDEN Phonebook Manager and install:

2.) Extract ABExporter.zip file (ABExporter.mdb) to “..\My Documents\Phone Lists as ABExporter.mdb”
3.) Open iDEN Phonebook Manager
4.) Connect data cable to handset
5.) If this is the first time, select ‘Options’ to configure appropriate communication settings (USB)
6.) Select: ‘New/Edit Phonebook’ -> ‘Load from Phone’
7.) Once the application has finished reading the SIM card, select ‘Continue’ and ‘Save to File’; save the *.mdb file to “..\My Documents\Phone Lists as username.mdb”
8.) Close iDEN Phonebook Manager
9.) Open “..\My Documents\ Phone Lists” and open ABExporter.mdb, which will launch Microsoft Access
10.) In Access, select ‘File’ -> ‘Get External Data’ -> ‘Import’ -> “..\My Documents\Phone Lists\username.mdb”
11.) From the ‘Import Objects’ window, confirm that you are on the ‘tables’ tab -> select ‘tblContactList’ and ‘Ok’ (Note: you will need to delete any old tblContactList from the ABExporter database that was left over from the previous conversion)
12.) Select the ‘Queries’ tab (along left-hand side) ; double-click ‘MasterQuery’
13.) Select ‘File’ -> ‘Export’. Change ‘Save as type’ to ‘Excel’ (97-2002) and save file “..\My Documents\Phone Lists\username.xls” -> select ‘Export All’
14.) Close Access Data Base, go to the file you just saved, OPEN it and do another SAVE AS; save it again as Excel 97-2002. You will be asked to replace with previous version, select YES and close out of Excel completely.
15.) Send an email out to the user with the following directions and attach “..\My Documents\Phone Lists\username.xls”
Please save the attached file to your desktop and follow the directions below to move your phone contacts to Outlook.
If you have not done so already, please install the Blackberry Desktop manager that came with your Blackberry (instructions are in the box.)
1. Open Outlook
2. Select ‘File’ -> ‘Import and Export’. Select ‘Import from another program or file’ -> ‘Microsoft Excel’. Select ‘Next’ -> Browse your desktop for the file you just saved (yourname.xls) and select ‘Ok’. Leave the ‘allow duplicates’ checked and select ‘Next’, click on ‘Contacts’ as destination folder. Select ‘Next’ and then select ‘Finish’ to import file.
3. On your desktop, select ‘Start” then select ‘Program’ from your program list, select ‘Blackberry’ and then select ‘Desktop Manager’
4. Plug your Blackberry into the provided USB cable and the cable into an available USB port on the computer. Then select the ‘Options’ and then “Connection Settings”
5. From the drop down menu for ‘Connection’ choose ‘USB’ then select ‘OK’
6. Double click ‘Intellesync’
7. Click the box for ‘Update Handheld’s Date and Time’ and leave everything else as is.
8. Select ‘Synchronize Now’
