Default Dreaded Duplicate Messages

I've looked all over the internet for a solution to my wierd problem but to no avail.
I'm using a blackberry pearl with Blackberry internet service and a hosted Microsoft exchange (as is everyone at my company who all experience the same annoying feature)

If I'm working on outlook 2003 on my laptop and I forward or reply to an email the original email is re-sent to my blackberry. i.e.
* I receive an email
* It appears in outlook and on my blackberry
* I reply using outlook
* it appears again on my blackberry

And the same if I forward an email. In fact it even seems to happen if I open an old email in outlook for a couple of minutes.

Anyone come across this before?

Check your redirector setting filters.

I don't have any filters set in BIS at all. I only have one rule set up in outlook which moves certain emails into a sub-folder.

I'm really at a loss to explain this...

You are not alone. My friend noticed when he replies to one of old emails, not every time but often, the email he replied to is pushed to blackberry again.

Have this issue escalated to RIM. This is what I told my friend, too.

Go to this site:

HOW-TO: Prevent G-mail "Sent Items" from being sent to your handheld.

This is primarily for issues with the gmail accoutn but it might help with other accounts. Just follow the same steps and see if it works.

Nope, that didn't help. I'm really stuck here. It's everyone in my office who has this problem. Our exchange is hosted elsewhere (and they don't know what is causing it) so I suspect it's a setting at their end, but if anyone can help I'd be really grateful.

I too would be interested.

I have a hosted exchange service and every time that I reply to a message (in Outlook on my PC), I see the original message come back in on the Blackberry.

I am using BIS.

I've tried the same filters I have on GMail, and that doesn't work.

I've removed and re-setup my account, with no change.

I see the BIS is using IMAP over SSL.

I have to assume that it has something to do with Outlook/Exchange marking the message as "replied-to" and somehow that sets a flag on BIS that the message is 'new' when it is not.

I don't see any way that any of the filters would be helpful.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you are on BIS, log into your BIS account. Edit each email account you have set up to delete the AUTO BCC.

I have had this problem at our firm for over a year now. We have our own Exchange server....have not been able to find a solution. The only conclusion we have come to is something between the device and the Exchange server triggers the e-mail as a new message, when the message is forwarded or replied. It's not a Auto BCC issue, because it is not the reply that gets sent back to your BB, it's the original message.

Well, I don't want to be stupid here, but how/why are you using BIS with Exchange instead of BES? It seems to me that with Exchange the whole point is to use BES from RIM and with BB Sync turned on at the Exchange Server.

BIS is setup to just poll POP3 accounts at set intervals.... Everyone replying "me too" in this thread is stating that they have BIS, not BES. I have hosted Exchange (exchangemymail.com) and BES on T-Mo and everything works flawlessly.

I posted this in another thread. I just switched back to a blackberry this week and was having multiple instances of the same message pushed to the device. I sometimes got 4 or 5 and when I would reply to one from outlook it would push another copy. I made two changes that eliminated the problem. The first was to manually configure bis for my account as opposed to having it done automatically by just adding my email address and password. The second was to turn off cache mode in outlook. I know cache mode causes issues with BES accounts so it might also cause issues for BIS. Your mileage may vary, but these changes seem to have fixed the problem for me.

Our firm does no use BES just simply because...it would be overkill. We only have 40-some users using BBs and only one office. Yeah, it would be nice, but it's not necessary, in our situation. And how are we doing it? IMAP.

I am experiencing the exact same issue with a client of mine. I am a web hosting provider, and have setup a clients email as an IMAP account. One customer got blasted with 1300 of the same message...

Im also at a loss of what to do.

Finally! I found somebody else who is having the same problem. I've read several proposed solutions here to the problem of messages being re-sent to BB when they are accessed in Outlook. But I haven't seen any "aha! that worked" responses from users. If you find a solution, please post it!

We use BES in my company. However, when I setup a separate email account on my handheld to receive my persoanl emails (Earthlink), I get a duplicate personal email in my business mailbox as well as the personal mailbox. My business mailbox is getting cluttered with these emails. How can I stop getting the duplicate emails?

Unfortunately I've joined the duplicate ranks recently...weird thing is that it just started recently as far as I can tell.

Nothing has changed, been on BIS via IMAP for my work email on Outlook on Exchange server (my company does not offer BES) for a month and a half now...

Someone above mentioned setting up an email account "manually" rather than via the automatic setup, and turning off cache mode in Outlook.

Has anyone tried that?

Saw this in another thread...

Receving duplicate emails from BIS

"I just worked on a friend's BB with the same issue using Sprint. I knd of followed what takeshi suggested, in entering the email address but not the password. Couldn't select POP or IMAP but I did say that it was a personal account. Still came up as IMAP,but so far, mail is arriving as it is supposed to arrive I just worked on a friend's BB with the same issue using Sprint. I knd of followed what takeshi suggested, in entering the email address but not the password. Couldn't select POP or IMAP but I did say that it was a personal account. Still came up as IMAP,but so far, mail is arriving as it is supposed to arrive. AFAIK it has to be either AOG maintenance or PFM.

NOTE: AOG - Act of God. PFM Pure F%^&*$#g Magic."

Also, has anyone tried deleting and then recreating their email account on their BIS?

And...the same thing happens if I flag a message for follow-up in Outlook, which seems to make BIS believe it's a new message that I need to receive again.

Trying to bring some of the troubleshooting ideas together:

"I made two changes that eliminated the problem. The first was to manually configure bis for my account as opposed to having it done automatically by just adding my email address and password. Anyone try this successfully or not?
