Default Blackberry as modem when on BES

Please Login to Remove!

I know there has been a lot of discussion about this on the forum.
But I have searched and haven't found any answers to what I need to know.

Here is the problem.
Few days ago I have signed up with a bes hosting service so I'm on BES

I want to know HOW can I use the BB as a modem on my laptop.
I ask because I see that all instructions are given when you're on BIS and have APN settings.

I know I can use the BB as modem when on BES with the Shark modem option but those guys have a BIG problem: I have to MANUALLY CHANGE the proxy settings when I want to connect with the shark modem. So, I have to change my explorer settings, ALL MY EMAIL ACCOUNTS settings, some other app settings
This is not a minor issue.
I really see it IMPRACTICAL

So, my question is if tere is a way to tether the BB as there is with the APN and configuring a connection and all that????
Are there other alternatives to shark modem for the BES users???

I hope someone can help.

I'm thinking this is a carrier specific issue and not a BES issue. I'm on BES and I tether the same as when I'm not on BES. With t-mobile, I never mess the apn settings at all. But t-mobile is the only carrier I have experience with since Nextel and Verizon($$) don't let us tether.

Di,

Yes of course. I can not tether the way it is explained here with the APN because my carrier doesn't provide this fuctionality.

So, I went BES and I want to know if there's a way to do the tether without having the APN from my carrier. (Maybe the initialization command for the modem is different? ) Just he way one can do it with shark modem but wihout the PROBLEMS changing pxy settings represents.

Anyone??

BES doesn't provide any extra functionality in this area. All shark modem does is provide the capability that your carrier is blocking (or isn't there to begin with)

All BES does is provide you full PIM sync, give admins full control over the device and allow intranet access.

There is no way to natively accomplish this - perhaps there is another software like sharkmodem, but if there were a better way to do it, I imagine that they would have accomplished it. Sorry I couldn't help more. good luck!
