I've never used a PIM/Calendar program before, but was one of the things I was looking forward to with the BB. I've got a bunch of contacts in my BB right now I wanted to organize via a computer (the BB imported from my SIM and messed them all up), so I tried to export from my device to Outlook via the Desktop Manager. I hit synchronize, open up O2007, and I've got no contacts. Not one.

I've got Desktop Manager 4.2.2.14.

I tossed in a few calendar events too, those aren't syncing either. Is the BB OS not compatible with Outlook 2007?

Er....did you happen to setup the 'profile' to sync to? It won't do anything it is is pointing to an empty application. The Desktop manager is not smart enough to figure out if you are going to sync with outlook , lotus, yahoo or empty space.

intrepid, are you using Desktop Manager verson 4.2, Service Pack 2? I know that is required for Outlook 2007. If you get to the syncing part, that probably means you are.

Open Desktop Manager
Click on Synchronize
Click on Configuration tab
Click on Configure synch button
Make the four entries have arrows pointing pointing both ways (<-->).

You should be ok, then.

The only other thing I can think of is this, do you contacts all have at least a First, Last or Company name in them, on your BB Address Book? The BB must have an entry in at least one of those fields.

Finally, you can look at your sync log. Same location as Configuration Tab above, look at the last button at bottom, View Log. Do you see any errors there? What does it indicate?

Thanks for the response JSanders, but it seems to have been something else.

On the machine I was using the software on, I was a local administrator sitting on top of a domain as a regular user. I tried it on another machine with only my domain privileges, and it worked fine. I've had this problem before: some applications install applications locally instead of to my network share, and apparently the desktop software was looking in the wrong place.

A few local policy changes later, I've got everything straightened out and pointing to the right place, and I can sync.
