I signed up too having used the trial version. I use Zagat, less now than in the past. I would have bought the subscription if they fixed one problem. When you search for a restaurant, there isn't an easy way to find out where it is without having to click on each entry. So, in NJ, I do a search and I'm given a list a restaurants that span the entire state. I have to open each entry and try to figure out where it is located to see if it is a reasonable drive.
But hey, free is affordable and it is certainly worth the price. Haven't received my key yet.
Don't know about the New Jersey guide but in the Los Angeles guide you can narrow by neighborhood. There's also a setting within the menu settings that allows you to have the ratings pop up when you highlight a name or have the address show instead.
It's been over 24 hours and I haven't gotten my link... I guess they either ran out of free subscriptions or were just trying to build their database to sell to spammers. Anyone else get a free subscription?
I got one two days ago. It didn't say what number I was tho. The email came within 15 minutes of me sending the request, so if you didn't get one by now, they probably met their mark.
No, before your thread, on Thursday July 26th. I picked up the the info from BlackberryCool RSS Feed. If you go to mobile.zagat.com it looks like you can still apply. If you click the link it brings you to a 365 day demo page. Larry's suggestion was a big help. The neighborhood setting isn't helpful to me but setting it to display the address was useful.
Thanks, Michael. I did download the trial but it says it will expire in 14 days. I'll find out then if it will automatically re-up me for a year.
I noticed that in their restaurant reviews every other phrase is "in quotes" and it's "extremely annoying" to read. Are they actually quoting some other source for their reviews or did the editors misplace their MLA stylebooks? Either way it's very annoying to read like that! Anyone else notice it or am I being OCD?
Their website now says the promotion is closed. I guess I'm going to have to pony up the 30 bucks if I want it... and if i can get over their fervent use of quotation marks. ;)
I was fortunate enough to receive a 1yr free trial membership. It's a great app I like it! My city isn't listed which sucks but I travel often so this app has come in quite handy already.
