I hate carrying my company-paid-for 7290 on the weekends and would like to use a normal cellphone. Can I swap out the SIM card at weekends and put it in a regular phone? Obviously I wouldn't get mail service (which I don't need at the weekend) but I'd like to get web access.

Just make sure you save all your contacts to your sim. As far as internet, Im not sure if it will work on any "dumb" phone.

Yes, the SIM card will work in the new phone to make calls. Im not sure if the Internet would work though, because the dataplan is a specific BlackBerry plan. There are regular data plans for the "other" phones. But if you were to get a small Pearl (8100), you could switch it out without a problem and still get internet.

Using BIS on T-mobile (US) so it might not be the same to you. I frequently switch phones which include a Treo 650, T-mobilw Wing and some other small GSM phones. As long as the new phone is unlocked, you are good with phone and SMS. However, you need to put in right APN, ID and password to make the internet and MMS work.
