Question Cingular BB on a Sprint Network

Please Login to Remove!

I have a co-worker that purchased a BB from Cingular and never activated it. I have a 7130e with my company and wondered if I bought it from her, would I be able to use it on the company's Sprint network?

Thanks in advance.

No. The networks are incompatible.

Cingular/at&t = GSM

Sprint = cdma

As far as I know, the answer to that is no. They operate on 2 different wireless technologies. at&t is GSM and Sprint is CDMA.

No, they are 2 different network types (EDGE vs. EVDO)

On top of the incompatibility issue, Sprint will not activate a non-Sprint phone on their network, so even Verizon phones are out.

Not for long. I'm watching NBC news4 Washington, DC and they did a bit this morning on the FCC passing a new law that would alow you to use any cell phone on any carrier. Hope this get's passed.

So, according to your post, I can put my T-Mobile 8800 on Sprint. Outstanding.

I didn't realize the FCC could pass laws.

GSM phones aren't activated (like CDMA phones). You activate the SIM. Which, of course, doesn't do any good if you're with Sprint...
