I am planning on purchasing an 8700 (probably the 8700c). I now use my Nokia e62 as a modem and reach speeds up to 160 Kbps/down, and 100 Kbps/up. Does anyone have any experience with this on the EDGE network? My wife has a Samsung A707, which is 3G-capable but can't achieve the proper signal in our home. ...

There's a ton of variables in this equation. The biggest are signal strength, how congested the airwaves are, and your carriers bandwidth allocation (how much they let you use). So, it's hard to say, but expect the full bandwidth that your BB is capable of given the circumstances.
