Hello All

First a little bit of History to let you know how to guage what I want/what I am looking for.

I have a cell phone that is T-mobile Pay as you go. I only use it ocassionally and find that 1000 minutes will last me all year. Call me lazy, stupid or ignorant, but I dislike having monthly bills. It's also much easier to cut lose a carrier without having a contract.

Also a few years ago I had a PDA. The PDA stored contact info, calendar data and a mobile copy of Microsoft money. I used it for little else. The touch screen on the PDA was always a little finicky, and eventually it went out altogether . It was also a problem since I hated to carry BOTH the PDA AND the cell phone at the same time. Since I was never that impressed with the PDA I did not get a new one.

A couple years later, and I am running into problems; lost contact data, scheduling conflicts that I did not realize until very late, and my financial records are getting really shabby. Enter the Idea of getting a Blackberry/Treo/Smartphone.

My contact list is less than 100 people, and not likely to get much larger and my calendar is not stuffed full of appointments, so I don't see the need for a whole lot of memory. I don't need data services, I just want a portable PDA with a keypad that works as a cell phone. I was looking at the BB 7280 that I see on Ebay for around $40 used.

I was also looking at Ascendo money, but I do not see minimum requirements for it. I have also assumed that I can load the program onto the BB from a PC (without the need for a Data service).

So there you have what I was looking for and what I was thinking of getting.

Thanks in advance for any information/sugesstions/comments!

you need to call the carrier and make sure they will let you have a BB without a BB plan. And I don't know that a BB is the best idea for you. Its not really a PDA like win mobile devices. It is designed to be a wireless e-mail device, so may find you don't like it for what you want. On the other hand, you may find it suits you perfectly.

P.S. the 7280 is a cingular device so you will need it to be unlocked if you plan to stay with t-mobile
