| Need help with MSDE / SQL problems on SBS2003 initial install Please Login to Remove! After searching through many forums and talking with Blackberry for 2 hours, I am stuck and hoping you guys can help me out.
I recently installed SBS2003 premium edition, configured it for exchange, installed SBS2003 service pack 2 and the latest service pack, followed the Blackberry Exchange Install Guide including setting up all the user permissions and what not. When I get the the database part of the install, it cannot find a local SQL install.
Blackberry's support guided me to microsoft's page and we downloaded the MSDE2000a program and ran the following command on our server:
C:\MSDERelA>setup.exe SAPWD=password INSTANCENAME=Blackberry DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=0 SECURITYMODE=SQL
I have also tried: C:\MSDERelA>setup.exe SAPWD=password INSTANCENAME=Blackberry
It starts the install and as you watch the c:\program files\microsoft sql server \ directory, you see the folder called "MSSQL$Blackberry" get created, but then at the end of the install you see the status roll back and the program exits without any warning, and then the directory "MSSQL$Blackberry" is erased.
I have read some other forums that said to locate CD3 and install form SBS\MONITOR\MSDE as it may be another version. I tried that with the following command:
setup SAPWD="password" INSTANCENAME="BESMGMT"
It has the same problem. We also have an older install of SBS2003 with exchange (minus service packs) and it has the exact problems.
After two hours with Blackberry, the support rep recommended that I call Microsoft and work out the issue. I would be very grateful for anyone that has a solution as I have spent many hours and nights and I am not getting anywhere.
Thanks in advance.
