Question Data service costs high?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm in Hong Kong and am interested in getting my 7230 signed up for email and browsing. However, having read a lot of the forum posts it seems that the cost of this service here is very high. Would someone comment on these costs that I have been offered:

1MB airtime, 25MB email storage, no voice usage for USD 18,
2MB airtime, 50MB email storage, no voice usage for USD 28,
Unlim. airtime, 100MB email storage, 1200mins voice for USD 69.

Thanks.

Do you mean in relation to the other two plans or to what you pay in the U.S.?

your prices are less expensive than what we pay in the US.

On Cingular I pay $45/month for Unlimited data with 10 MB email storage, and that does not include any phone minutes.

Then I pay $40/month additional for 450 minutes peak time plus 5000 night & weekend minutes.

Thanks I didn't realise your plans were data only. The thing is I don't have a need for 1200 minutes even at per-minute billing. I currently get by with 400 minutes. Oh well, decisions decisions.

Which carrier you looking at? CSL is the best BB provider in HK by a long shot, especially when it comes to roaming.

It's only a choice between CSL and '3'. CSL have two offerings; 1010 and one2free with the former costing you more. However, neither offer an unlimited airtime (email usage) plan, '3' does and it is their costs that I posted earlier. I would hazard a guess at which company offers the best BB service as new this service is to HK. Granted CSL should be the best in terms of cell coverage and hence GPRS availability and strength. I'm a one2free user and have been for years and can confirm that I lose calls often and often fail to get a line. I have in the past been a user of Smartone and Orange and though for shorter periods had a satisfactory level of service. Who to choose?
