Default ! Call Notes :o

I was on a call today and realized during the call that I could hit the wheel and take notes.

If you look in the call log, you can then open that particular call, and see your notes preserved.

That's too cool.

I used to have a ton of shortcuts made up on my Palms for taking notes on who I call, who I talk to... I need to play with this some more, but wanted to point it out. I'm guessing it's a 3.8 and 4.0 feature because I don't remember it being like this on the NextelBerry (which can't make it 12 hours without a charge and is dead in my bag right now.)

This feature, alone, is the primary reason why I am getting a BlackBerry. It is essential for me to be able to take notes while on a call, and I do not always have my laptop handy. If only Sprint would hurry up and release it already! Arrrrgh!

Question, however... Is it possible to then save these notes, or e-mail them to myself, etc?

You can really easily select text and email to yourself, sure.

I'm not sure how persistent the data is.

if I take notes in that field, why do that instead of in the Memopad?

or in a new message?

surely there is a reason!

What is the most effective method of taking notes on a BlackBerry 77xx while in a call if my intention is to have a record of those notes that I can then e-mail to myself or save for later reference? Even better if I can format parts of the note with bold or italic print.

To be honest it really doesn't matter!

You could do it in Memopad or Messages as easily as the in-call notes function. I just don't know if those in-call notes get saved differently or what. The Call Log may drop those items off faster, allowing you to manage how important the information is?

I have no idea.

The "BlackBerry Experience" is pretty inconsistent.

No formatting of text, but you can do things like tag them with * @ or whatever and know what those are for later. I usually mark text while taking text notes on a computer that way because I don't take time to Command+I Command+B all the time.

I like the call notes and prefer to use them -howeever - I can't figure out a way to get them synced to outlook. It kind of defeats the purpose for me so I have to do a memo instead. Anybody have any work-arounds??

What I really like is going into Call Log and it shows you all the times you called a certain number and if that instance has notes. I kind of like that.

However, as you point out ilguy, it's kind of silly since they don't GO anywhere.

p.s. I miss Chicago - lived on Lunt and Sheridan and miss it like crazy in the summertime.

Is it possible to make it save my entire call log, instead of just 20 or so at a time? Or can I at least set it to save ~200 of my most recent conversations?

I can't tell, it'd be really nice to be able to do that though!

It'd be an interesting way to keep track of things, for sure.

Alternatively, to link all calls/sms/emails to an entry in the Addressbook would be nice too, so call notes and such are all accessable in the Addressbook.

Okay found a neat thing about Call Notes!

You can forward them.

i.e. in your Messages list, select that phone call, and you can forward it to other people, to send the number, how long you were on the call, and what notes you took.

Kind of clever.
