Default My friend is dead...7520 not charging

Please Login to Remove!

While on vacation last week, my son used my 7520 with Verichat to IM his girlfirend. Twice he came to me and said it was not charging and that the lightning bolt would not come on. We were using a car charger all week aw I normally do for work. When I would go check it for him, it would be charging correctly. On the way home, I noticed that the battery was dead and plugged it into the vhicle charger. Sure enough, no lightning bolt. When I got home, I tried my home charger and it it still did not work. So I came here knowing I would find the answer and got side tracked with the web browser discussions and decided to go ahead and try the latest software version for the web browser and hoping it would coreect my battery charging problem.

That is when it all went downhill. Now I am getting a 507 error and it will not let me reload the software because it thinks the battery is dead. I know my chargers were good because it would turn on the backlight when I plugged it in. Now, I can not get it to do anything other than display the 507 error. I tried all the suggestions I could find here including the javaloader wipe command.

Any suggestions?

Did you try removing the battery and chargers and putting them back in?

I did try removing the battery for several minutes and that did not help. I did not remove it and then hold down the power button for two minutes. I will give that a try.

That did not work either. I just called Nextel support and I will have to bring it in to a repair center and try a new battery. Hopefully that will allow the system software to be reloaded.

what kind of car charger do you have? It is an OEM? or Authentic Blackberry? What I gather from Nextel Sales and Support that if you don't use an Authentic Blackberry car charger, it will create problems and or destroy device.

I had an experience with this first hand. Not on my BB but on my other phones. Usually when you get new phones, you usually get free carchargers from your provider. And these carchargers is soo cheesy you are just scared to use them. But sad to say, I once did and it killed my mobile device and had to go through the "sending and replacing" with heaven knows if it is refurshed or not replacement.

So once things are solved and you get it fix.. if you didn't get an original accessory.. it is better to get the original one though it is a little bit expensive.. than going through the motion -- inconvenience and all

I went to a Nextel Service Center and got a new battery but it still refused to take the software update. It still indicated that the battery was dead. So they ordered me a new 7520 which came in today. Both my car charger and my house charger are oem Blackberry chargers.

Luckily, I ran a backup of my contacts a few days before it died.

All is well now.

On the bright side, after I uploaded the latest version to it as well as reloading Verichat, I noticed that I had several new AIM buddies in my buddy list. Yellow Pages, driving directions, Scarbble, local weather forecast and a few others. I was able to play with the driving directions and weather forecasts and it was fairly neat. I am not sure if this was a Verichat update or how these "buddies" got there.

I was thinking you could put a shoulder strap on your car battery but since you got new one I will have to save my suggestion.
