Default What is the Screen Size

Please Login to Remove!

Hey Guys I currently have a 8703 e with Sprint and I want to upgrade to the 8830. Is there a difference in the screen size? I would appreciate any input.

Thanks

RIM has an excellent site where you can compare the features of the various models - BlackBerry - Compare BlackBerry Devices | Wireless Handheld & Mobile Features Comparison From RIM

Good luck and welcome to BB Forums!

The link is great but does not give screen size, which I believe is the question posed. Is there a site that shows actual screen sizes of the many BB devices?

Google, for one.

Sorry--couldn't resist. I'm sure it is on RIM's site somewhere too.

That is not what the OP asked either, both phones are qwerty ...

... to answer your question... the 88xx series has a slightly smaller screen than the 87xx series. But the phone is also smaller so i guess it has to make up for that somewhere.

The 88xx has the 320x240 screen

Not sure the size of the 87xx though i know it is bigger i have both and compared.

The screen resolutions are the same for all newer Qwerty devices and for all SureType devices. I answered the OP's question. Thanks!

Aside from those that are model < 8000.

The 8800 series, 8300 series, and 8800 series all use the same screen. Period. End of topic.

Physical screen size *may* differ but the resolutions don't.

I did some looking when I saw it posted that all QWERTY devices had the same resolution because I knew that couldn't be true.

The statement that all > 8xxx QWERTY models have the same resolution would be correct.

Ok, if we're including the older style BB's with the entirely different screen then yes, that's true. >8000 Qwerty devices are 320x240. However, the OP's question was regarding the 8703 and 8830 screen sizes. My statement was in reference to that and to the newer devices.

However, it's true that while the physical size of the screens may vary, that the resolution is the same. The 8100 and 7100 is a good example. They have different sized screens but the same resolution.

The older 7200 and 6000 series devices with the monochrome screens had lower resolutions, that is true. I stand corrected.

Thank You guys so much for answering. If the resolution is the same on both th eseries does that mean we can view the same amount of content on both screens?

Thank You

Yes. The physical size may vary slightly but the amount of content viewed will be the same.

I thought (although I haven't checked) that all the actual screens were the same, and the lens is the only differing factor. I've only taken apart my 8700, so I can't really say one way or another
