Why is that you wish so much hate and failure upon RIM? I don't understand how that much junk can be bottled up inside you. Their failure does nothing to help me get email, and wishing falling stocks hurts investors from retired grandma to your 401(k). What do you get out of their failure?

Once in while other corporations make mistakes as well: McDonald's will run out of french fries or Delta will cancel flight(s) or whatever.

Each outage, RIM had was fixed and back up in short order. Do you actually prefer it stay down?

To delete service books:

Options > Advanced Options > Service Books

You have to hold ALT while pressing Delete for each one.

I hope this is not a dumb question, how does one delete their service books? I searched the forums quickly, but didn't really find any solid guidance.

Options > Advanced > Service Books. Delete those with and "@" email address. Then resend from your BIS site.

Yes actually, I'd really like to see what would happen if RIM went out of business today..... just to see. Do you think it will happen?

If I were you guys I'd maybe hold off on all the suggestions for "Delete the service books and resend" ideas. You might just be "possbily" making more work for RIM or yourselves in the long run. RIM (when and if they fix this, I'm sure they will as always) will fix it in such a way that you won't have to do this. Think about it... do you honestly think they'd fix it in such a way that EVERYONE in the country will have to reconfigure their BIS accounts. I doubt that very much.

Besides, doing all this isn't fixing the problem "permanently" for you anyway.

Deleting service books before resending does nothing different than just resending. It will over write what's already there.

Those are the emails that the "more" function did not work for me, I see it now.

All emails working except for Yahoo SBC accts.

Geez man, I feel like I need a CS degree just to deal w/ all these BB email problems.

You're welcome. Go take your RIM bashing, negative, whining, complaining, posts somewhere else. You've helped nobody with your posts.

...BTW, my BIS Gmail is still coming and going quite nicely.

Doesn't really matter. What matters is that "your suggested fix" doesn't fix EVERYTHING with BIS so when RIM finally fixes everything it will fix itself. They're not going to ask millions of users to resetup their BIS accounts or even send service books out. If they do, I hate it for them and the carriers. Be realistic John.

Is it still working for corporate BIS accounts? Because several users are reporting that it's only "spurt sending" whatever's waiting, but not really working afterwards. This same thing is happening for my accounts.

I'm in Los Angeles....I believe the user is elsewhere..

Exclamation Report from the Mid-Atlantic Region - 09-07-2007, 05:15 PM

At the time I'm typing this (5:15 PM EDT), my BlackBerry Internet Browser is working, but the test emails I sent a few minutes ago (one from my BB email account to an AOL account synched with my BB, and vice versa) still haven't come through on my CrackBerry. Curiouser and curiouser.

But this is why I'm glad my present workplace provides me with a decent Windows XP PC and a good broadband connection (DSL running @ at least 1.5 mbps.)

I understand the fact there's an outage. That happens. I really dislike the fact they told information week that the issue has been resolved yet email is nowhere to be seen for this BIS user...

My gmail is coming through ok. Only a few minutes behind....normally it's pretty darn snappy. My blackberry address has been running about 30 minutes delayed since deleting and resending service books as opposed to not coming at all. Yahoo mail is nowhere in sight.

This is one of the first things recommended to do when your are having trouble sending or receiving emails...says so right on T Mobile's site to do this before calling for help. It can't hurt and if it works for even some what's the big deal?

Okay, at 5:30 PM, I went into the "Set-Up Internet Email" function on my BB, and clicked Service Books, then Resend Service Books. This was after having previously done a full reboot (w/ battery pull), and then Registering w/ the Network.

A minute later, my emails came through along with the usual registration notices. I'll see if it keeps working throughout the evening.

Thanks for the tip, JSanders!

Angry Major delays in Denver (using AT&T) - 09-07-2007, 05:41 PM

About 3 hours behind or more. This is ridiculous and entirely BIS specific...clearly BIS is not viewed as a high priority, as this is at least the third time I've experienced this sort of outage in a few months. The first time I was using T-Mobile and the rest of our folks were using AT&T; we all experienced the same delays.

When I re-send service books, I get the activation email right away, and some emails will tricke in, but it does not resolve the overall issue.

PIN-to-PIN and BES seem to be working just fine.

I posted a message earlier expressing frustration with RIM for this outage, and there have been a few others expressing frustration also. I do honestly feel they could and should have more reliable service capability. But to wish that they'd fail and go out of business today is pretty dang stupid, not to mention hateful. Must really suck to be you with that kind of attitude.

The same thing for me. Resend service books and you get whatever's waiting, but then nothing until you do the same thing again. This is why I said it's not doing much to SOLVE THIS PROBLEM ENTIRELY. If it's worked for you JSanders and it's still working, consider yourself lucky, but NOT ALL your accounts are working right so there's still a problem.

Well, the last time there was an outage this severe, earlier this year, the problem was fixed within 12 hours. That's right; despite being hyped up as the coming of the Apocalypse; despite the news media talking about the many frustrated users that were ready to switch to another device because of the outage; despite the inconvenience to our President and many other government employees; despite the frustration of a service we frankly take for granted being out of commission; service was out for only 12 hours or less! I lost service somewhere around 2 AM, and it was back up by 11 or 11:30 AM.

Why does that make me happy? Because, before I switched to using a , I had a T-Mobile Sidekick. Try having your service go down for a WEEK and see how much you complain about these occasional BRIEF BlackBerry outages after that!

You might think I'm joking, but I'm not. Outages lasting a full day or 2 are not unheard of on Danger's equivalent of the BIS. And in the spring of '05... in March, I believe... Sidekick users experienced the worst outage ever. Service went down on a Sunday, and was not back up until sometime Friday evening!

This was a month or 2 after I'd switched to a Nextel , but I still had my Sidekick active for a little while longer, so that I could ease people over to the BlackBerry email addy instead of the SK one. So I saw that outage, and saw the effect it had on the SK community. Trust me, NOBODY with a Sidekick was a happy camper THAT month!

So, before you complain about how "unreliable" RIM's service is, take the time to truly compare it to the alternatives. Compared to the other PDA phones on the market, and their associated data service, our beloved CrackBerry is ROCK SOLID.

Not all my accounts are working right? haha, really?
Why would you presume to know?

Working - one AOL account
Working - two POP accounts, same email server
Working - one GMail account
Working - one mycingular.blackberry.net account

On Cingular/AT&T and TMobile, all working after resend of service books. They have continued to push to BB since that time.

Civic, you're on the edge. Back off.

Mine is still working fine since I deleted service books, rebooted, recreated gmail account in BIS and resent service books. Things are still flowing and I can send and receive. All is well after doing what I posted above. I'm sure it'll all work itself out but this worked for me, regardless of what the nay-sayers want to inject.

My bad, cwinters wrote that his Yahoo mail was still not working. I've lost track of all the posts you've made in this thread so I though it was you... lol.

VZW user in the S.F. Bay Area. GMail is now being delivered quickly, but my Yahoo-hosted email is not being delivered to my BB at all. I hope this is resolved soon!

Me too.

I'd much rather discuss dust in the 8300s, 8100s and 8800s, or how to mute the clicking noise the camera makes, or why the dialing tones on the phone, and how crappy the side rails are.

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Resent service books earlier today and immediately received several with the activation server messages. But email continued to trickle in late. So just deleted service books on the BB, hard reset, then resent service books from Tmo site. No flood of emails. Still a trickle. FWIW.

But I'm personally not real angry about it. I wish it wasn't happening, but all things considered I'm pleased with the service over the years I've used it. That's also FWIW.

EDIT: emails seem to be coming in now without delay (1730 central time).

I wonder what the forum record for most posts within a specified time frame -- let's say 12 hours -- is? This thread could come close!
