Default Using OWA 2007 on BIS

Please Login to Remove!

I'm unable to configure our exchange 2007 email accounts to work on BIS, is there something I'm missing or is it just not supported yet?

Any idea when it will be supported?

Also, isn't there a way to make it work using pop3 over exchange 2007? Any idea how to enable this?

Thanks!

Savesheep, you might want to refer to this Integrate a Microsoft Outlook Web Access email account with a BlackBerry Internet Service account.

It said that BIS does not currently support integration with OWA 2007 accounts.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830: BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

Wow!!! So what do you do? Set up a forwarding rule? My employer uses OWA 2003 but you have to assume that they will eventually upgrade. What about a mail redirector for this user?

My question is if RIM will EVER provide integration of OWA 2007 accounts via BIS since they are obviously more interested in promoting BES, which my employer already stated that we will NOT implement. I think I made a mistake moving to BB a month ago. I had this issue until I ready the statement that OWA 2007 accounts are not supported by BIS. Now what? Stuck with a BB... until... the obvious solution was just mentioned... forward the corporate e-mail my BB e-mail address. This will only allow reading the mails, not answering them using the company's e-mail address, which we have been ordered not to do. Bummer!

In the mean time - bummer for you I'm afraid One thought though - can you get at your Exchange mailbox via IMAP? This would provide the same functionality is OWA.

I imagine RIM intends to support Exchange 2007 via BIS as they do with 2003. However, given that they are already aware of the situation it may be that either they are being slow in sorting it out or that Exchange 2007 presents a technical difficultly for them in integrating with their systems. I rather suspect it might be the latter.

I'm sure RIM are heavily geared towards promoting BES, but clearly they have had a shift in strategy towards prosumers and small businesses. With that in mind I would hope that they can see that continuing development of BIS is a necessity (especially with the flood of improved (dare I say that ) WM devices on the market).

If RIM wants to keep making inroads into the consumer market and small business market, they have to make sure that BIS is compatible with Exchane 2007.
