Default Web Browser Question

Please Login to Remove!

My 7250 came with the Blackberry web browser, but I see there is another browser discussed on these boards. My questions are: 1) Are you limited to using just the Blackberry Browser if it's installed already as on the 7250, and 2) If not, which browser is better (faster, etc.).

Thanks in advance,

The different browsers are 1) the browser the carrier supplies that goes through their gateway. Sometimes this is lmited to WAP only sites depending on the carrier. This is what you have automatically with your device. 2) This is the browser that comes with a Corporate BB server using MDS as a gateway for web access. This browser is configurable from your BB server and usually gives you more flexibility to view more types of pages such as java script with version 4.0.

You can have both browsers on your Blackberry and use them both. I have some sites that I find work better on one browser over another so I use both. For instance, my carrier's browser allows me to change the emulation to Microsoft IE so I can do online banking because the web site checks for the type of Browser I have and it only allows a few browsers. By changing the emmulation to IE, it thinks I'm on IE even though I'm on my Blackberry. Generally, though, Browsing from my BB server browser is faster for me.
