Default AT&T just raised BIS price from $30 to $35/month?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone - I am a new user about to buy an 8300...I could've sworn that I was looking at the AT&T site last week and they wanted $30/month for the personal blackberry service, but now the price is $35/month. Was I imagining things, or is this true? Is there any way to get the old rate if you haven't already signed up for service (I already have a voice plan with them, will be adding the blackberry plan on).

Welcome to the forums.

It's always been $29.99 and the Enterprise plan was $39.99. It's possible they raised it. I don't check that site that often. Make sure you're looking at the personal plan and not the Enterprise plan. Very likely they have raised their price.

Happy to be with TMo!

The personal plan is $34.99 a month or $29.99 with a qualifying voice plan, 450 minutes I think. Same for the BES option $44.99 and $39.99.

Dub is correct, it shows on the webpage as $34.99, but $5.00 less with a voice plan.

Does the $5 off apply if you buy it from an AT&T store? or just online?

yeah, it applies in the store too.

@soupcxan....Sorry, I didn't post it for you last night. I do remember that about AT&T now but it didn't come to me last night when I replied.

I just switched to t-mobile and their coverage is terrible. I got the 8320 and the wifi barely works and I am standing right by my router. I love their prices but I get no reception. I might return it for AT&T

I do love TMo's prices but left a few years back because of that same problem. Service was spotty at best. If I am going to pay for cell service, I want it to work in my home

You clearly have to go with the carrier that gives you coverage where you need it -- and for you, it sounds like T-Mobile isn't the right answer. But I wouldn't generalize that they have "terrible coverage" -- I've been a customer since before they called themselves "T-Mobile", using the service a LOT from DC up through Pennsylvania, NJ, New York and north. I spend most of my time between NJ and NYC, and the coverage -- and service -- have been excellent for me. The customer service is unbeatable, and the prices have consistently been the best.

I'm not arguing with your personal coverage issues -- but there are a lot of very happy TMo customers out there as well...

You can bet that is going to go up once they join the present age and update their network. They will have to spend millions of dollars to update their network to 3G, and you can bet the prices WILL rise.

When the 3G BlackBerries start coming out, you can bet T-Mobile will be on the top of the suck list, because of their lack of 3G infrastructure. There is no way they can have a comprehensive 3G network up in a year, and no way in hell they will have one quickly at the current price they are charging right now.

I predict they will start on the decline when everyone goes to 3G, including the BlackBerries, and T-Mobile is the only network to NOT have a comprehensive 3G network. You can count on that. They are rolling out an older 3G technology now, to save money I suppose, but it will be EXTREMELY spotty, and already extremely outdated by the time it is complete.
