Default Service Carrier question

Please Login to Remove!

Currently I have Sprint on my Treo 650. I'd like to get a Blackberry Curve, but Sprint doesn't carry it. Can I get it from somewhere like amazon.com, and then take it to Sprint and have them activate it?

Thanks, Justin

The Komet (Pearl 2) is launching on Verizon any day now. Perhaps you will be able to buy one and have Sprint activate it for you. Both Verizon and Sprint use CDMA technology. AT&T and T-Mobile are GSM like most of europe.

Sprint will not allow a non-Sprint phone on their network. Same with Verizon.

Damn! I guess there's nothing for it but to wait for Sprint to release the Komet themselves. Man, I'm lovin' GSM.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Yep this is where GSM definitely has greater appeal than CDMA!

No Curve available in the near future on Sprint or Verizon, but you can get a black Cyclone (8830) on Sprint or a silver one on Verizon. Here is a pic from my company's internal order entry site of the black 8830. Don't hold your breath for a CDMA Curve anytime soon in light of the CDMA Pearl2 about to debut on Verizon and soon after Sprint.

The last rumor I saw about Curve on Sprint was 2008, maybe 1Q, probably 2Q.
