Guess, I would remove MDS from the "Network Specific, BWC & MDS" and just add it in as part of the description under "BES Admin Corner", since BES and MDS are more directly related than BWC/Provider and MDS (in a sense).

Also, add in RIM OS 3.8 as one of the lists (or remove all of the versions altogether).

And lastly, I've always been a stickler for having uniformity in descriptions, so I would reformat them to start with the same opening word/verb (in all honesty, the descriptions are fine in content, for newbs or for experienced users/developers).

I didn't get the feeling you wanted a total re-write, so I tried to just make some slight modifications. For me, I don't see the need for a separate hardware category, since it's so inherent to the various models, and we have forums for current and future... Also, since we have news already on the portal, I'm proposing that any other tidbits people find get posted in the respective sections (if it's about 7100T, it goes in "current", if it's about some future model, it goes in "future", if it's about the network services, it goes there... Just trying to streamline a bit.

In another thread I already gave you my opinion. I like the break-out of a "help center" which lets people ask questions and others know where to go to volunteer their expertise.

It will make these forums swell in size, I promise.

I think "Available Soon" should just be "Rumor Mill" since nothing in there will be concrete and it will be a place for suggestions, what-ifs and other nice things. Perhaps you could get more traffic from RIM and partners directly into that forum to see what a small segment of users are clamoring for.

Iffy on the news items being posted. Seems like they should just point to your portal, but the forums are more condusive to discussion. I don't know.

I'm afraid of the break-out on Fireproof's version though - accessories may be best served by the idea of Help Center though that may just be me pushing my Help Center. K.I.S.S.

I'm all for a Help Center. I think accessories is different, but those discussions can easily be handled in the general current BB forum or the Help Center forum if someone is having a problem with an accessory.

So I'm good with adding a BB Help Center and removing the Accessories.

Good ideas, sempai.

I'm for a help center, regardless of issue. Its important to have a place to post help questions, and a place pepole will look to offer help. After those that want to have done that then heey can brouse.
I also think the coming soon should be rumor mill - thats a better name

* Move Help Center to the top of the list. It will curb mis-posts because people will see HELP first.

* BES admin should be seperate like that. Good Good!

As for the MDS/BWC bit. Eh.

You know you're going to rearrange with 4.0 anyway. Maybe NETWORK should be INFRASTRUCTURE or ARCHITECTURE.

Why not just curb it now, unless you want to revisit again in December/January.

Yeah I think the third section should be called BLACKBERRY ARCHITECTURE and not NETWORK.

I like! Gives room to expand and is clearly marked and easily to navigate.

I can look at this list and know exactly where to post something.

Is it a big shock that us Berristas are so organized and logical?

Maybe add some subcategories to the Hardware section. There's tons of requests for 7100, but the 72xx and 62xx questions seem like they could get easily lost and the posts per day counts start climbing evermore.

Also, maybe a "new users" section, with a series of stickies and faqs about where to find info, software, OS, etc... Plus explain to new users how to easily search before they post questions, because I'm already starting to see the same questions asked a few times a week.

I say "boo" to the 72xx|62xx thing.

I do say "yay" to the FAQ or "Starting Out" or "Almost an Addict" section.

Upon successful completion of a FAQ that gets an answer, move the thread in there, and ta-da.

Though really this is best served with a Wiki.

Congrats Fireproof! PM me with what you would like your custom title to say.

I used MOST of your idea, but not all.
