Default Looking for GOOD picture viewer/slide shower

Please Login to Remove!

Summary: I've searched in this and other forums. I've looked around many different Internet sites. I've downloaded some samples to try but I still cannot find a picture viewer/slide shower that does what I want.

Hi, I'm Ken and this is my first post to the forums although I've been reading them for a month now and been using PDAs/Phones for years now (started on a Newton 100!). I'm currently using a BB 8300 "Curve" through AT&T and, admittedly, this is my first attempt to really get to use a Blackberry. For the past 5+ years, I've been a Microsoft Windows Mobile/PocketPC/CE (or whatever they keep changing the name to) user.

On the WM5/6 devices, I used a program called "Resco Picture Viewer" which did everything I wanted. I could load a bunch of pictures and step through them showing them all in a size that would ALWAYS "fit" my screen (big pictures shrunk down to fit my screen size). I didn't have to zoom in or out of each picture nor convert them before loading them.

I could also run a slide show which would randomly or sequentially show the pictures in the folder which would advance to the next picture after a specified delay or a key press (my choice). Again, all pictures would fit to my screen without having to edit each picture.

On the BB, the best I could find were programs that would let me load pictures on the PC and then move them to the BB. I had to individually edit each picture to the right size. If I have a folder of 100 pictures, this simply isn't going to happen. I don't mind running a conversion program that would take a folder like c:\pictures and move it to my BB in a new folder and all of them resized but I'm not going to add each picture one by one nor edit each one.

I saw requests in these forums for good picture viewers but none of them really compared to what I am used to. I understand that pictures may be much larger than necessary for a BB screen so again, I'm willing to put it through a process but it shouldn't have to be manual. Additionally, the slide show function should allow random or sequential viewing. The most important thing, though, is that I want the pictures (in regular or slide mode) to FIT my screen, either by real-time scaling or through a 1-time conversion when they are loaded.

It is, of course, possible that I missed something in someone's program or just didn't find the feature that was there but not where I expected it to be. I know that I am a semi-novice on the BB (although this is my first, I've been setting them up for 5 years for people at my company so I'm familiar at least with the interface, usage, and configuration of them) and that not everything in WM5/WM6 is going to have a BB equivalent (and vice versa) but I would think that there would be something like this.

Can anyone make any recommendations? Thanks for any help or just for reading this!

Ken

Have you tried our MasterDoc. It's desktop part - eFile desktop - allows synch of files (pictures) to BB into folders (you may creat new ones for you). ViewAll and BB have option to fit images to size.
We however do not have slide show option.

I see you have an 8300, so not sure if you tried the Slide Show that comes on the BB. I have an 8320 and all I do is go into the pictures section and there is a menu choice called Slide Show. It fits the pictures to the screen, so you don't have to worry about resizing beforehand. If you want to pause, press the space bar.
