I just purchased a new BB original leather holster for the 8830.
The leather holster is slightly smaller compared to the original that came with the phone. In other words, is not as tall, leaving the phone top corners more exposed. I would say it is about 1cm shorter then the plastic holster that came in the box. That is a lot.

Anyone else had a similar issue? I measured (side by side) the 2 holsters and yes, the leather one is shorter. I got the leather holster from the blackberry site, it is an official product.

If you guys purchased the leather holster, please measure it with the vinyl one that came in the box and let me know if their height is identical.
It might be a holster packed in the wrong box... My model (8830) is indicated on the box.

Sound to me you maybe got a 8300 holster packaged in a 8800 holster box. Ther 8300 holster is shorter and not I think slightly more narrow

My 8830 (Verizon), which I got two weeks ago, came with a leather holster.

i just purchased a new holster 5 days ago from rim and got it yesterday. the one i recieved was visually different. instead of having a smooth front it has a seam going down the middle. i compared it to the box one and notice that the width is slight smaller but i think thats because of usage.

When I got my Verizon 8830 the case was described as KOSKIN which is VINYL, the softer case with the seem down the middle is Lambskin leather. Then I went online and ordered a leather case which looks just like the KOSKIN one! WHO KNOWS!!
