Has anyone else experienced this? Whenever I plug my phone in to charge I can't make phone calls, or use anything else for the matter and its really quite annoying. The screen goes black, and the activity light uptop goes red and it will just sit there like that until i pull the plug and then of course it reboots and takes like 2 mins to do so and then the other person's tried calling back, gets the voice mail and is mad cuz they think i hung up on them.. lol thats the least of my worries, i bought this phone used and the person i got it from said he never dropped it, never exposed it to any water dmg or anything like that.. now my question is can i bring it to a verizon store and have them swap it out, cuz im not sure if the 8830's been out a full year yet so it should still fall under the 1 year warranty right?
Please chime in people let me know wut I can do.. this is my only line and i need to use it while its charging.
well the new charger didnt fix the problem. im going to head to the store tomorrow because now i know how to dupe the problem. it seems if i talk and let the screen go into sleep mode while on the phone it freezes in about 10 seconds..
but the store doesn't swap out pda's so i gotta get the tech to approve the change and they will send me a new one in the mail.. boo
anyone know if i can get a direct replacement from RIM because i went to the website and i tried emailing them but i needed a technical service # or some nonsense.
Well went to verizon today, spent about 45 mins in the store, right when I walked in told him what happened.. He gave me crap saying your not supposed to use the phone while its charging and i said listen, i don't want to be rude but I just got this last week and its not my 1st blackberry, every other one i've had i used while charging on the phone and it never froze like this one has. He didn't argue with me *which was nice* and he was like no problem i'll swap it out for you, went to the screen to have it mailed out *since most stores don't do PDA swaps in stores, or thats what I was told from another verizon rep at a kiosk* and it wouldn't allow him too, so he said since u got it last week we'll swap it out for a new one. *i kinda forgot to tell em i got it used lol* but 45 mins later I left with a brand new 8830.. ahh new toy's are so much better.
hey, post back whether that fixes it. I have the exact same problem. I have yet to determine what causes it. I thought it was HW realted, but then **get this** it happened to me when it wasn't plugged in!! same exact thing!
so now I'm wondering whether it's sw or maybe BT related.
Again, I was pretty sure it was HW so maybe what happened to me the other day was a 1 in 1 milllion coincidence.
Any one else having that / anyone else figure out what it is?
VWZ gave me a *really* hard time on the phone with this, they were asking me to wipe my device to try to confirm whether this happens with a new image.
