Default Camera that I can use with the 8830

Please Login to Remove!

I am a converted Palm 700p user, and used the internal camera quite a bit for my work mostly for convienence of being able to snap a photo of something then sending it to a coworker. With the 8830 I am able to send photos to a coworker, but have to take them with my regular camera, fire up the laptop, connect the camera, download the pic, resize it, then transfer it to the 8830, then attach it to an E-mail.....

Needless to say it's a bit more cumbersome. Are there any cameras that can bluetooth a photo directly to the 8830? or is there a better way to go about getting and sending a pic?

Do you have an old camera phone with bluetooth? Some phones don't have to be activated to use the camera. You can then take a picture with that phone and bluetooth it to your 8830.

Not the right phone for the job. The Pearl has a camera on it. The 8830 will not have the neccessary bluetooth profiles to bond with a camera over bluetooth. Sorry.

The 8820 works just fine. I can take pictures with my 8100 and bluetooth them to my 8820 with no problems. I'll try it with my wife's samsung just to make sure it's not exclusive to BB.

The only camera phone I have is the Treo, and I was hoping to sell that POS.... Not to mention that the camera really wasn't all that good anyway. No flash, and pretty grainy.

I was hoping that there was a standard point and shoot that had bluetooth capabilities that would be compatable with the 8830.

I may someday go to a pearl, but right now I'm stuck with the 8830 for probably at least a year or two.

BB to BB file transfer, yes... 3rd party standalone digital camera to BB... not. Also, he's on VZW so the only BB with camera available is an 8130 at the moment.

Are there any other options? would perhaps finding a camera that uses an SD card/Micro SD card to take the pics, then putting the card into the 8830 and sending them that way?

Just trying to come up with a work around...

I never mentioned a 3rd party camera. I was talking about a 3rd party bluetooth phone with a camera. (i.e. Samsung T609 to BB) And that works just fine...

That's actually a great idea. You just won't be able to get to the files from Media > Pictures. You will have to go Media > Menu > Explore, and then search for the pictures. I just don't think there are any microSD cameras out there right now.

"According to this picture from the manual, I think the question has been answered"

LOLZ hilarious picture! Even better, "according to this picture...." LOLERSKATES!

BTW, most of the time when you buy MicroSD card, it comes with an adapter that allows you to use the MicroSD as a normal SD, so, just put the micro in the adapter, the adapter in the camera, then out of the adapter, into your phone. There you go! Not the most efficient thing in the world, but it should work!

Not picking on you McKinney, just thought your presentation was hilarious!

I sent the seller an E-mail asking about shipping... :D I'll see if I can get ahold of it and try it out.
