Default Verizon 8830 - Ear Piece Problem

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I have one user who has went through 3 (yes, 3) 8830s because they always started having problems with the earpiece sporadically dying out. The times it happened, I/We tested different earpieces (wired) and the same problem came up. So, it looked like it was definitely not the earpiece being used.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? I'm thinking of trying the update with the newer TELUS firmware.

Just unsure if it's just a plain ole mechanical defect with the 8830 and the jack ...

TIA!

Youmay find my response strange. BUT......

I had a similiar problem and realized it was a software issue with the media file. NOT the ear piece or the hardware.

Confusing, so what do you actually mean?

I have horrible call quality on my 8830 with great reception so you're saying it's software, not hardware?

Should I try the Telus OS on my Verizon based 8830?

Hi,

I should clarify that this is in reference to voice calls. And, not anything to do with media/music on the device.

I just find it hard to believe that out of 3 devices, the ear piece connector has all failed (spordic) after some time. Which would give it a 100% fail rate and there isn't widespread reporting of it. So, I'm thinking it has to be software related somehow ...
