Now I have my 8100 my 7290 is redundant. A guy who works for me wants to buy it from me to use just for SMS only.

How can I clear all data from it so its all 'clean' for him?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8700g: BlackBerry8320/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

If you want to clear everything (but leave any third-party apps on) then you can perform a wipe. It is in Options > Security Options > General Settings > Press TrackWheel > Wipe. Another way would be to wipe the device using JL Cmder and then reloading the handheld OS on it.

Oh dear! I thought I was in trouble there. Went down the JL_Cmder route and the bb stopped working. Going though this now http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...tml#post414629

Any ideas how to setup the 7290 for SMS and WAP only?

I believe the SIM card in the BlackBerry would need to be provisioned for that. The person you are giving it to would need to set that up with his carrier, I believe.

SMS is now working fine, can send and receive text messages fine. Only problem is the bb is trying to connect to a gprs account all the time and there is not one for it.

I cant get WAP to work on it though, mobile Opera is fine, but I dont know how this is being billed! I am trying to get him to to pay the little extra to add BIS to his account so he has the whole lot.
