Question phone draining battery

Please Login to Remove!

i have the blackberry 8703e and ive had it for almost a year now. lately ive noticed that even after the battery has been fully charged, by end of day, my phone would have no battery. and thats even if i hardly use it all day. i bought a new battery to see if the old one was the problem. its the same case.
has anyone experienced this? and if so, what should i do?

Make sure you don't have any applications running that you don't need. You can check on the running applications by holding alt and pressing the 'back' button on the side of the device.

Other than that, you might have a short circuit or a malfunctioning back light. Have you changed your backlight settings recently?

Do you holster your phone? or do you have the backlight on alot? I have a simliar issue with an 8700 and I just start holstering it and it seemed to save me alot of battery time

You might alway want to change the brightness of the backlight, too. I have mine set to 10 percent, as the BB will automatically increase the brightness in brighter areas. That may help a little as well.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8700g: BlackBerry8320/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Try letting the battery run down to like 5-10 percent. Then charge it overnight (letting it top off) and then test again tomorrow.

Do you have a means to charge it during the day?

Are you in a poor-reception area or do you have good reception? I know two of the biggest drains on the battery are the backlight and the cellular radio.

Welcome the the forums, is there any particular reason that you don't use the holster?

Not sure this is in the same area but I noticed today when my battery was drained to zero it will not recharge. I dont get any indication on the display that it is charging. AC charger or USB charger do the same thing. Unless there is something wrong with the BB, the battery may be so low it will not recharge. I never had this happen before so I hope it's just the battery. These batterys are not supposed to have a memory but maybe they do when they go so low.

Stumped

Milaine, are you putting the blackberry into the holster so the buttons face in or out? The buttons should be facin in, so the only thing visible is the back plate of the blackberry. If you do it that way, the buttons shouldn't get pressed at all when you insert it.
