Question Couple software questions

Please Login to Remove!

I just picked up an 8800 and it currently has 4.2.1.74 on it. This software has a couple things that annoy me like I had experienced when I updated the software on my 8100 so I plan to downgrade. But, before I do, I would like to know what I may be losing. These questions concern the browser;

First, I noticed the very slick 'desktop' view with mouse pointer. I really don't want to lose this, is it new or old?

Second, I prefer to have my trackball also function as the enter key, does it work that way on older software?

Is there anything else I should know?

Also any recommendations as to which older versions work the best? This version seems really glitchy, especially with my Fav-5 list.

Thanks,
~Mike

I think the 8800 has to have OS 4.2 so I don't know what you will be downgrading to. Keep in mind that you have to us an OS specifically for your make/model. The 8100 OS won't work, nor will the 8820 0r 8830. It has to be the 8800 OS. The carrier doen't make a lot of differnece however.

The oldest version I could find was .68 and it didn't help. What was the oldest version available for the 8800?

I tried .108 also, just in case, but I'm not feeling this version either.

What is it about the current version that is annoying you that you think will be solved by downgrading?

Everyting else I'm getting used to or have found more convenient ways to do them so the only thing I really want is my track-ball click to double as the enter button. I just can't seem to get myself into the habit of having to use my right hand to hit the enter key. I've tried 4 different OS's so far and unfortunately none of them did the trick.
