Default No LED or Vibrate notification on 2nd Acct

Please Login to Remove!

Hi folks, a relative noob here when it comes to blackberries ...

I've just been chained down with an 8300 at work, configured to use our corporate email system via BES.

I was able to add on a personal email account via blackberry's web interface, no problem. My ring profile indicated that for every message that came through, the LED shall flash red, and the phone shall vibrate n times.

This worked fine for the first two or three test messages I sent to my personal account. Unfortunately, this functionality has ceased to work. The device still registers that there are new messages in my personal email account by indicating an "*" on top of my messages, along with a 10*(envelope) in the title bar.

It should be noted that this is only the case for my personal email account. My corporate email via BES continues to vibrate happily away and flash red.

Any/All help is appreciated.

Regards,

Matt

Try this:

Menu > Profiles > Advanced > 'whatever profile you are using' > 'your email account' > then change the properties.

Yup, tried that.

My settings in:
Messages[Desktop]
are identical tho those in
Messages[personal@email.com]

Again, the [Desktop] profile works just fine.

You're getting hit by the IT Policy on the BES that is not allowing your BIS email. I have the same thing.....I can receive BIS email, but no notification due to the IT Policy settings.

Ah ... that makes sense (well, from a technological standpoint at least!)

Maybe my next task here in the IT department will be establishing a business case to get rid of the people that get paid to dream up these policies and the staff to monitor and enforce them

Thanks for the heads-up. So its just a matter of switching how I receive notifications from having RIM poll my gmail via IMAP to having gmail fwd an SMS to the cell, and using the GMAIL app to read/reply to the mail... or getting GMAIL to set off the notification on the back-end of the device.
