I have been using an 8830 for about 6 months now.
For some reason the last couple of days when I turn it on it freezes.
It will show 1 new message received but will not receive any more nor can I make a phone call or launch any other applications.
I can remove the battery to reset and it seems to work fine but that to me just should not be necessary.

Anyone had the same problem?

Thanks

Try upgrading the OS. Look at the thread at the top of the 8800 forum.

I also have experienced this only in the last two days. Can't figure out why. I've had this device for 5 months with no such prior problems. Mine is freezing when I press and hold a key for speed dial. It says "connecting" but doesn't do anything, and then I have to pull the battery to dial out again.

I have this using Smart keys as well. Also, if I get a dropped call I have to do a battery reboot. I have App version 4.2.2.66 on Platform 3.0.0.45.

I was hoping to find an update here that dealt with this.

Friends, I am having the same issue but can shed a little more light using my situation as an example: See my signature for the programs I have installed. Recently I have upgraded to B&W v1.29 (might be the issue). Space free, out of the 63MB that I have on my 8800, I usually have about roughly 36MB+ with all apps installed. The only issue I think is the B&W, ideaMatrix, todoMatrix, all run in the background, eating up tons of memory if you do a lot in the program(s). I really dont want to reload my OS because I normally dont have any freezing/restarting issues. So I am going on the assumption that I may have too many programs utilizing my data connection maybe, or swapping too much memory and not letting go.

EDIT: Worth nothing that I found this while searching (Blackberry freezing issue) Maybe programs running in the background, along with other data services (syncing on email (i have gmail imap enabled)) could be causing this random bursts of rage from my berry as well. Not only are your messages open but the browser as well - FYI.
