Default BB 7290 Global Roaming

Please Login to Remove!

Hey All,

I am travelling with my BB 7290 around Asia and have activated global roaming to receive and make calls.

My carrier has mentioned that the global roaming data plan to send and receive emails may cost quite a bit when I receive emails so to deactivate the BB service.

Does anyone know how to deactivate my BB data service so I don't receive emails anymore?

Thanks in advance.

Kindest Regards,

Des.

i believe you need to go in the options of your blackberry email > email reconciliation > turn wireless email reconciliation off. all email and calendar traffic should be disabled now

Default Get your Blackberry Unlocked

Hey, I have an alternate solution. Just get your Blackberry unlocked by the service provider. Buy a SIM card in Asia for whatever country you are in and use their SIM card and number. Most of the Asian companies are prepaid and cheap! You can usually buy a SIM card for about $2-3, get some prepaid load (maybe $10) and avoid all those nasty roaming charges from your carrier.

Also, Asians love texting and Blackberry is supreme for texting.

It's worked for me in Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Indonesia on my Blackberry 7290, and 7230 before that.

Which is fine except no one will know your phone number.

I carry a chearp unlocked quad band GSM phone with me. I get a local SIM card for that. Turn off Data if that is a concern, but still have your same phone number on the BB.
