Until someone comes along with better advice: Which browser? The native blackberry browser, opera minin, what?
Did you clear up that IT policy problem?
Do you have a data plan now?
If it isn't the IT policy causing you this problem, and you have a data plan, and say, the browser is opera mini, there are ton's of threads here, and they have an informative website, from what I can tell. Whatever it is, I'd search on the browser name here as well as the error message, if you haven't.
Another idea is go into browser option on the blackberry and play around with the settings. I dont' know what the problem is, so it would be trial and error for me.
But if you still have the IT policy on the device, and if you don't have a data plan, all bets are off.
Hope I've at least given you something to move forward with.
