Default 8830 Vibrate/Tone problem

Please Login to Remove!

I'm having some issues with my 8830 getting the vibrate/tone to work with my email. It will do what I want (make a tone or vibrate) for sms text, bb messenger, just won't do either for my email. I have verified all the settings with a co-worker that has his working and just can't figure it out. Could it be something defective with the device? It doesn't seem to matter what profile it is on either, when I get an email it doesn't make any tone or vibrate.

Did you update Desktop Messages under the Vibrate/Normal?etc profile? That's where the email options are.

Make sure you don't have it on MUTE, make sure you are editing and saving your "MESSAGES" alert, not the "MESSENGER" or "MESSENGER - NEW MESSAGE" alert.

On BIS it is listed as "Messages", not as "Desktop Messages".

Thanks for the quick responses. I have checked to make sure the settings were correct under messages and not messenger. Still hasn't fixed the issue. None of the profiles for messages or even level 1 messages is set to mute. volume is on medium for each of those and it still doesn't seem to be working properly. I tried a hard reset and that hasn't fixed the issue either.
any other ideas?

Exclamation

I have the same problem. It started yesterday when I upgraded my 8830 to version 4.2.2.176. This version seems to have a Bug.

I solved the problem.

When I upgraded the OS, I had the Desktop Manager save my settings and data during the upgrade process. After the upgrade was complete, the notifications for Email quit working.

So this morning I reloaded the OS, but chose the option to erase all settings and data. After the reload was completed and the Activation process finished, the BES server sent my previous settings back to my phone (the BES retains a copy of your personal settings). POOF…. The notifications for Email now work again!

what OS version are you running? I might have to try and upgrade mine or reload it or something. doesn't make any sense to me why it isn't working.
