I'm new to this site so I'm sorry if this topic has been posted before!
I recently found a blackberry on the highway by my work and it was in ruff shape with no battery and no back piece to hold on the battery. However, the front was in perfect shape, no scratches etc. So I decided to take a chance and I ordered a full new housing off eBay, a new (generic) battery, a new USB chord and a new charger. Today I have received the parts and put it back together so that it looks new. However, when I put in the battery, I'm getting the picture of a battery with a red "/" through it. I was told by someone that this was the "invalid battery" error screen while someone else advised me that it was the "dead/empty battery" error screen. Before I tried to charge the battery, I hooked it up to my computer via USB and it did read it and after I installed the Desktop Software from the blackberry site, it gave me the password protected screen allowing me 10 tries to guess the password. I read online that if I exceeded the 10 tries it would just delete the previous owners address book, notes etc, and would let me start from scratch. So I did this. Probably not the best idea. Anyway, now I keep getting the disconnect sound from my USB port, so I'm assuming that the battery is just alive enough to connect but then is dropping connection again. When I hook it up to charge the battery, I don't get any light or blinking from the LED nor does the screen with the battery and "/" change at all. Should I see any activity when it's charging? I'm currently leaving it on charge to see if there's any progress in the AM. I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me out or direct me to a previously posted topic of similar circumstances so that I could try to figure this problem out if it's not rectified in the morning. Thanks!
p.s. as the title stated, it's a CDMA not a GSM (just in case this makes a difference)
