Default Fairly new to BB - question on browsers

Please Login to Remove!

I'm on my third blackberry, not by choice, but because my company keeps changing providers. They finally gave us the option to buy one ourselves and they just reimbursed us and pay us each month for the plan. I went with an 8830 from Verizon. I have a few questions on the browers...

What is the difference between the Blackberry Browser and Internet Browser? Does one funnel through our corporate BES and one doesn't? For privacy, which should I use? Is it possible to have both running at the same time, so I can access our corporate intranet on one, while keeping my other browsing private from corporate eyes? I remember from my old 7290 there were two browser applications, the blackberry browser, and just browser, but the 8830 only has one, but I can change it from one to the other. Can I run both on the 8830 simultaneously?

Thanks!

I definitely have to be hooked up to our BES, as I'm on the road all day and must have my corp emails, address book, calendar, etc. So there's no way to separate corporate BES browsing activity and personal web browsing?

nope and all phone calls, emails text messages PIN messages and every thing is logged. No hiding anything while on BES and they can lock your BB down if you leave.

What about my comcast.net personal emails that I've set up on my bb? Does that go through the corp bes also?

Can anyone else confirm what Dawg is saying, that even my comcast.net home email goes through the corporate BES and absolutely nothing is private on my bb?

Through BES, everything is fair game for employer.

I'm beginning to think that if I use the Internet Browser, that it's not going through the corporate BES. I say that because I can get to websites on that browser that are blocked if I use the bb browser or my corporate notebook while on VPN. Sites like chat, forums, career, dating are all blocked by our corporate web filters, but I can get to any site on my bb if I use Internet Browser. For example, on my notebook while logged in via VPN, I can't get to careers.msn.com, as it's blocked by our corporate web policies. On my BB, if I use the BB browser, I can't get there either. If I use Internet Browser on my bb, I can get there just fine...

Yes you may still be able to get to them but your employer can still see what sites you are visiting by the logs.
