Default 4.2 Upgrade Problems

Please Login to Remove!

I hope someone could point me in the right direction. I've just upgraded the firmware from 4.1 to 4.2, but during the initialization and before restoring my settings/contacts/etc, my laptop blue screened. It didn't finish the last step where it restores everything from the old version. I'm thinking that this file is somewhere on my laptop that has all my old settings, but I didn't know where.

Does anyone know where this file resides? Also how would I get it to upgrade with my settings now? I used AppLoader to upgrade.

If you backed up your BB before upgrading, you will have no problem. Usually the Appl Loader erases it's files upon completion; however seeing whereas your's did not finish...

So where would this AppLoader file reside?

Look in Restore, and it will show those available.

I guess our Blackberry Enterprise system stores everything because I re-activated my phone and everything was there...even my password keeper entries...which definately weren't there before re-activating.

Yep, if the device is activated properly on BES then the data will be sync'd with the server and everything will sync back (except emails.)

The loader process makes a backup of your data. It doesn't erase it. Search for any file with the extension .ipd. If you search for *.ipd then you'll find all the files with that extension. Generally, the loader names the backup: loaderbackup-(11-29-2007).ipd. I think mine usually puts it in My Documents.

I meant the Swtich Device Wizard erases its files upon completion.

On my system, the loader backup saves to the same folder as my own device backups, both are *ipd extensions as John stated.

Thanks for the replies guys; it looks like everything is up and running...I'll make sure to do a manual backup next time just to be safe!
