Default GPS & Security

Please Login to Remove!

New here. Moved over as a long time Treo user, 300, 600, 650, etc. Using the Telenav app on the BB. Have BES through work with a lock on the security password and timeout duration. I can't change it to disable or the duration. Duration set to 10 minutes. Anyway when using Telenav or any GPS aware application the device will lock out in 10 minutes. Not too safe while driving to have to enter the password to bring Telenav back up. Is there a switch or setting on the BES side that would disable this when GPS is in effect? Is there any way around having this occur? Thanks for the time and to the adminstrators here for a great forum. Learned enough here that the trasition was quite smooth. Have referred many other co-workers here as we migrate from Treo to BB's.

The only way to change the security timeout is to have the BES administrator change the IT Policy and push a new policy to your device.

I don't know that they'll necessarily do this for you, but that would be the only way.

Thanks for the reply. Not really looking to change the time out but was hoping there was a switch that would disable it when GPS is being engaged by a mapping/routing program. Clearly having to reach over to enter the password while driving is not a safe practice. I would think RIM would have thought of this as an issue when they added GPS to their devices.
