Ok so i just got a BlackBerry 7290 which first had no battery in it. So i took one out of an older BlackBerry that has no model number, and put it in my 7290. But that battery was dead. So i used a mini USB cord to plug into my 7290 with a larger USB on the end plugged into my computer. The red light comes on and then a little hour glass turns, then comes this circle with a line through it, and in the circle is what looks like an application window with a circle, a square and a triangle in the middle and the number "507" under it all. It stays there and then if i hit the light button at the bottomn it turns the light up then it shuts off, the red light turns back on then it repeats the process. If anyone knows what is happening and can help my I would GREATLY appriciate it, thank you for your time.
507 is code. There is no operating system on your device

ok I have At&T, and i went to the download site, and it has two for north american, but after them it says "Mobitex" for one and "GSM" for the other. Do you guys know what those mean? Thanks again

alright cool i think thats wat i did, the 4.1 version at the top, n im like installing it or soethin now, but thnx alot i dont think i coulda done thisonemy own
Yes; that's the ONLY way to upgrade the OS on the BlackBerry. THe FAQ had all of the steps, but here they are:
- Shutdown Desktop Manager
- Download the Handheld OS for the 7290
- Install in (onto your PC)
- Delete VENDOR.XML from the PC C: drive
- Connect the BB and restart Desktop Manager
Alright now ive downloaded it but like the thingsays it cant find what port in trying to download it though or somethin i dono like i said i got the USB plugged in thought the front of my computer.
"A connection to the device could not be established. Please ensure that the device is properly connected to the cradle or USB cable, and that the cradle or USB cable is connected securely to your computer. Also ensure that the device has completed any startup operations. Then run the Application Loader Wizard again."
I am new here and do not know a freakin thing about these. I am too lazy to read instructions. But, Maybe since your BB does not have an OS the upgrade will not work because its an upgrade. Is there a choice to an early full OS to download? Then once that is installed and it works then do the upgrade.
