Bought my wife a 7100i for Nextel on ebay. When we turned on the phone it came up with an error code: JVM 102, and under that is states Reset. When I hit reset the phone starts to reboot, and then comes up with the same message. I called Nextel, and they advised that the phone is now a paper weight. Any thoughts on this, and is there a way to do a hard reset to see if it clears up the error.

That error means, essentially, that you'll have to remove and reload the OS for that device (I support a lot of those and that's the only fix I've run across).

Actually, with the 7100i, that will only fix it for a bit, and then the problem will keep coming back. Its a known hardware issue.

I attempted the above method, and could not get it to work. I have decided to send it back the person I purchased it from for a refund. Now with that being said, I just bought another 7100i. Do I have to worry about this same problem with this one?

Does she need the PTT funcationality? If not can you migrate her to a Sprint device?

Ya, she needs the push to talk. All her company employees are on Nextel.
