Default Opera Browser defaulting to uk version of US websites

Please Login to Remove!

Can someone help me figure out why....

When I open a US website the UK version opens instead?

It's happened with Myspace & Bodoglife.com

Welcome to the BBForums, Rayce.

Try going to your Browser > Options > Cache Operations, and clear all. Reboot the BB (pull the battery while powered on, replace), and see if you get the correct website.

Likewise, are you going to those sites via bookmark? You could have saved a UK bookmark.

Opera's Proxy servers are based in Europe. It's possible those sites detect the IP you're coming from (in this case it tracks back to Opera's Proxy IP) and forwards you to a "closer" resource, which in this case is the UK sites.

Making an educated guess here, but if you're not blatantly hitting the UK sites, this is what's happening.

Welcome to the forums, Do you get directed to the same UK sites from both opera mini and the BB Browser?

Default Still no luck.

Thanks for the replies.

To answer some questions:
I clear the cookies, history, bookmarks, and cache and I still get directed to the UK sites.
I've also removed the battery and robooted.

When I was browsing on Opera 4 Beta: it would open the Dutch 'MySpace' site. I new I should have taken Dutch in school.

The Verizon browser pulls up the US site but of course it has it's limitations.

Also thanks 'Civic...' for your insight. It sounds logical.

This is completely bizarre and if you guys & gals figure something out let me know.

I was getting the dutch site for myspace as the main homepage for a few days, I logged in as normal and it took me to my personal home page in english. Try logging in and see what happens. Also what happens if you go to mobile.myspace.com
