Opera Mini on 8830?

Has anyone put the opera mini ver 4 on a 8830? How do you find it works?

ezrunner 12-02-2007 09:46 AM

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I have it on my 8800 and I like it for some things mostly if I go to secure sites and such

I run Opera mini on my 8830 and I love it.

It works great!

It works great, I use it to go to secure sites like my bank & it works like a desktop computer.

Opera Mini 4 causes my 8830 to lose its ability to receive/send data. The ONLY way to restore data services is through a battery pull.

Too bad -- nice app, but I avoid it unless I have no choice.

I enjoy it. I do find that sometiems it doesn't actually put text into some fields on some websites, even though you type it into the provided box. Who knows, maybe I am using it wrong! LOL

You are not alone. I have had the same problem and was never able to attain a suitable answer. Gradually lose connection and eventual need to battery pull.

I found it less than satisfying and deleted it. In my opinion, it was not that user friendly with bookmarking and the BB browser is satifactory. You cannot read pages in full mode so why bother. Overall I think it needs work as do all mobile applications.

You can't beat it for speed.

phoneguru22 12-02-2007 10:35 PM

I use it on my VZW 8830 and it works like a charm. BB default browser sucks

SK00 12-04-2007 10:11 PM

how do you guys get OM4 to render pages exactly like a website?
what settings should i have on? because i read everything people say it renders the site just like a desktop but on mine it sure doesnt.

Works Great!

I've been using it for awhile now and I have no complaints. Granted on sites like CNET the video links on the main page look bunched together but otherwise no problems. I don't use the BB browser anymore unless I'm taken there by another application.

Opera mini is currently not supported by Verizon devices This is a quote from Opera mini's web page. Not sure how some are using it can someone please advise.

Note to North-American users
Opera Mini is available to all Sprint and Cingular customers. Availability for T-Mobile customers is dependent on the subscription plan. BREW-enabled phones, including Verizon, are currently not supported.

They mean other Verizon phones - not blackberries. Luckily Verizon can't restrict what can be loaded on blackberries like they can on their other phones, such as only allowing "GET IT NOW" purchased apps. point your phone to mini.opera.com and you can install OTA

I am using the 8130 Pearl when I try to do an OTA it does not give me the device as an available phone. i downloaded the generic version and it will not connect any suggestions

RichieRichR6 12-05-2007 12:09 AM

I have it and I like it much better than the BB browser. Seems a lot faster too.

Use the normal download. Dont worry about whether your phone is listed or not.

dominque 12-12-2007 04:34 PM
