Default Controlling Backlight per specific applications?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I tried doing some searching, but was unable to come across anything that seemed to apply.

I recently purchased a GPS puck -- it works quite well, and I'm quite happy with it. However, my backlight is set to turn off after 30 seconds, so it's quite annoying when I'm following directions and the display is turning on and off.

I'd like to set the backlight to remain always on when I'm using BBMaps, Telenav, or Google Maps.

Is there somewhere I can set permissions for individual applications, regardless of the user profile I'm currently in?

I'm not sure if there are settings in the actual OS that determine backlight time out for individual applications, and I know the max time out you can set in general is (Options>Screen/Keyboard) is like 2 minutes.

If you go into Telenav and select, "Tools/Extras" you can set the backlight to stay on, along with other options.

BBMaps, press the "Menu" key (left of trackball) you can also set the backlight to stay on, along with other options.

Telenav is the only application I've seen that overrides the backlight timeout settings. If they can do it, I don't know why others can't (particularly Verizon's own VZNavigator!)

Well, I'll be damned. Look at that! Options within the programs to do this... I was thinking this was a more system thing and failed to look at the application's options/settings. Doh!

Thanks guys!

you can download BBlight

BlackBerryTools OTA

Activate on Startup (checked)
Poll Interval (ms):1000
On user Activity (checked)
On Remove Holster (checked)
On External power (unchecked)
On Time of Day (checked)
From 00:01
Duration (mins) 1440

Option>Screen/Keyboard>Blacklight Timeout (2 Min)

Pull battery to reset

I have the above setting and it work fine on the 8800 and the 8700 with 4.2 OS.
