Default Phone Records

Please Login to Remove!

I desperately need to trace a call I received on 26th September 2007 from another mobile phone. Is there a way of accessing my call records history? I have tried via my network provider however they can only provide outgoing calls made on this day. I am organising a charity event in January and this is a very important person I need to trace to play the bagpipes(it took me a month to find him) and his email address doesn't work!!

Go to Messages. Press the scroll wheel and select View Folder. Open Phone Call Logs and scroll down to the Thur Sep 26, 2007. If its not there, View Folder > Missed Calls.

Good Luck.

Hi Doug
Just tried this and only has phone logs up to 14 November. I have not deleted any logs so is there a way of getting access to 26 September?

Apparently you have your call logs/messages set for only a certain time period.

Have you done a back of your BB anytime recently?

Oops. Are you on a corporate BB, BES system?

If not, you might be out of luck.

EDIT... at Messages > Options > General Options. Scroll to the bottom of the screen. What is "Keep Messages" set to?

It is set to 15 days which was probably the default as I have never set this. Am I out of luck? This is a phone for my personal use so no other tracking. I just cannot believe there is no record somewhere!!! As you can tell i do not want to give up hence why I came to this forum for the best advice.

If you had backed up your advice (do it today?) you would have.

Vodafone really ought to have those records. Can you not go online and look at your billing statements? I know with TMo and AT&T here, I can do that, for several months past.

Where are you located?

My online billing statements only show "incoming" for calls received. It does not show the number. I dont know if the OP will show the same if they have the option.

I wish! They are like gold dust and trust me to have forgotten to note his number! 180 people are relying on me and I do not have enough time or enough puff to teach myself! Can we not solve this one!?

This setting only effects email/SMS/PIN messages. It has no effect on the phone call log or missed calls (wished it did).

Doug, I thought it did.

It's odd that this user's call logs only retain to Nov 14 (and his setting was for 15 days), and in my case the call logs retain to November 4 (and my setting is for 30 days). I check my wife's 8100 whose message setting is for 60 days, and she retains back to Oct 4.

What does set the call log retention?

Nothing. It just grows and grows and grows. Its a real pain in the ass when activating a new device for someone that is heavy cell user. I have had activations take over 9 hours because there were 24,000+ entries in the phone call log. Now that we are on BES 4.1 we can chose not to restore this info, but that wasn't an option in BES 4.0

The OP and I are both on BIS, not BES.

It doesn't matter if your on BIS or BES. The phone call logs still act the same way. BIS users just dont automatically have the phone call log saved like BES users do.

Oh well, perhaps this will clear it up, if this is correct, seems we both were incorrect...
