I just updated the software on my Verizon 8830 to the very latest version. Ever since, select (junk) messages from my POP3 Charter Account are delivered repeatedly every 3 or 4 minutes. The delivery stops once I delete the offending message from the POP3 server. The problem seems to be limited to messages that appear to have no purpose in the first place. They are all different, contain only non-intelligent text and contain no links or attachments. This happened several months ago but only for one email so I'm not 100% certain this is related to my upgrade. I also have a webclient account and a BES account on the device but these are not giving me any trouble. I have tried removing the account from the webclient and I have rebooted the device. There are no rules, forwards, cc's, etc. associated with the account and the message is only found on the server one time. Anyone else having this problem? Thanks for your help.
As you might have guessed, I do not fully synchronize with this POP3 account using the blackberry. I normally pull my email from the server using Outlook and have this feature turned off. When I pull it up online through Charter.net it doesn't appear to be "flagged" either.
Charter must be one of the worst ISP's for spam that I know of. I finally removed my charter account from the BB, and switched to Gmail and never looked back. GMail must be one of the best for spam. I get very little spam with GMail and what spam I do get is caught in the spam folder and never makes it to my BB.
I don't disagree with your assessment about Charter. I do get way to much junk!
If it were the service books I would expect all emails to be sent twice but it's only certain messages and they are sent over and over until I remove them from the server. Because it comes every 3 minutes, it's like RIM is having trouble recognizing that it has already been successfully delivered to the device. Thanks again for everyone's contributions.
