How do I remove my number from my 8830? Hi all, I have an 8830 that I was using on Bell. I ended up switching to rogers and ported my number over. Now I want to sell my 8830. My question is can I remove my phone number from the device before I sell it? The phone does not work any more, but the number still appers in the phone screen. I have wipped the device from the device, and I have loaded the newest software (while wipping the device again), but the number remains. Anything I can do? Thanks in advance. |
There should be a code that you can get from Bell for returning the device to the factory defaults. For example, on Sprint, I would 'dial' ##786 and then put in the MSL code (specific to that device) and it would both wipe the device and put a generic number (starting with 000000) for the phone number. Try giving Bell a call.... or maybe someone else here knows. |
Wiping! The correct answer is wiping the phone and then turn it off, there no need to set the phone up if going to sell it. |
Wiping the phone doesn't get rid of the number. I agree with juwaack68, give your carrier a call. Although I have sold many of my old phones with the number still in it, and have never had any trouble. As soon as the buyer activates it, the number disappears. |
